Dating questions always get loud when you play them as a game. Everyone thinks their answer is just common sense. This time I pulled the "If You Won the Lottery" theme from our balance game app Infinite Balance. Only the first question is about the lottery, though. The rest are all about dating. Eight questions.
1. If you won the lottery
ATell my partner right away
BKeep it a secret for now

I'd keep it to myself for a while. Not because I don't trust my partner. I don't trust myself. Until I see the money actually land in my account, I don't think I could tell anyone.
When I asked this at a get-together, one friend said, "If they find out later that you hid it, isn't that way worse?" Fair point, and it shook me a little. Still, I'd want at least a week of walking around grinning by myself.
2. The best way to start dating?
AGetting set up on a blind date
BMeeting naturally

I used to say meeting naturally, no question. Blind dates felt like two people sitting down to grade each other.
Then I started working, and "naturally" just stopped happening. Home, office, home. These days I think getting set up is fine. At least you know the other person actually wants to date.
3. The worst kind of breakup?
ADumped for someone new
BGhosted

Ghosting. If you get dumped for someone new, at least you have someone to be angry at. With ghosting, there's no one there.
A friend of mine got ghosted in college. For a whole month she just worried: "What if something happened to him?" Then she saw him posting perfectly normal photos online, and that's how she found out it was over. She said that month was the hardest part.
4. If you started dating someone new
ADated their ex for 10 years
BDated 50 people in 5 years

This one split our group chat right down the middle.
The A side said, "Ten years with one person means they take things seriously." The B side said, "How are you supposed to compete with ten years?" I was on the B side. With 50 people, I doubt I'd get compared to any one of them. And after that many, maybe they'd be pretty easy to date.
5. Which is worse?
AYour partner cheats with someone of the opposite sex
BYour partner cheats with someone of the same sex

A is worse for me. B would be such a shock that I think I'd actually be less angry. I don't think I'd end up wondering what I did wrong.
If you think B is worse, I'd like to hear why. What makes it worse for you?
6. Who would you date?
ARich but super stingy
BBroke but generous

B. If someone hates buying me a coffee on a date, it doesn't matter to me how much is in their bank account.
7. Which is less bad?
AA partner who keeps their cheating secret forever
BA partner who confesses and begs forgiveness

I thought about this one the longest.
At first I said B. At least they were honest. But then I pictured what happens after the confession, and I wasn't so sure. Even if I forgave them, I'd get suspicious every time they looked at their phone.
So I went with A. If I don't know, I'm happy. Writing that out, it does sound a bit cowardly.
8. Who's the bigger villain?
AYour partner flirting with your best friend
BYour best friend flirting with your partner

The best friend. A partner might be in your life a few years. A best friend has been there 10, 20 years. If they did that, I'd start doubting all those years too.
When I told a friend this, she said, "So you'd cut me off the second you got a partner?" I told her no.
Out of the eight, how many did you answer the same as me? Dating questions are even more fun with your partner. Just be careful with number 7. Infinite Balance gets a new theme like this every week. Grab it here.
